Man shot dead in Dhanusha

JANAKPURDHAM: A man has been shot dead at Janakpurdham in Janakpur Sub-Metropolitan City-14 of Dhanusha district, on Wednesday morning.

The victim, Manoj Sah who appeared to be in his mid 30s, had gone to the residence of another local Pankaj Chaudhary. According to Amit Sah, an eyewitness who had accompanied the deceased on the visit, Manoj was shot after a heated argument regarding non-payment of money for borrowed gasoline.

The deceased was the operator of Shree Baba Petrol Pump and had gone to Chaudhary's house to collect money for the petrol which Chaudhary had used since long but had not paid for.

Manoj was immediately rushed to a Janakpur-based health facility by a team of police where the doctors pronounced him dead.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Shekhar Khanal of Dhanusha Police informed that Chaudhary, a contractor by profession, was arrested from his neighbour's house after the incident.

Two loaded pistols — one from Shah's possession and another at the incident site — were seized, police informed. Likewise, police also recovered 9 rounds of bullets of an automatic pistol that Shah was carrying along with another three rounds of bullets of the another pistol.

According to petroleum entrepreneurs, Chaudhary had also borrowed some money from Sah.

Meanwhile, further investigation into the incident is underway, police informed.
