Manipal College to resume classes after 3 months on Thursday

POKHARA: The strike-stricken Manipal College of Medical Sciences is expected to resume its classes after three months of closure on Thursday.

A meeting between the agitating teachers and the college administration upon the initiative of the Kaski Chief District Officer today decided to reopen the institution from tomorrow.

It has been learned that further discussions would be held soon in presence of representatives from the Ministry of Education and the Kathmandu University.

A medical student here said the shutdown elongated because of the college administration’s negligence.

The students, meanwhile, have also urged the administration to be more responsible in the future and avoid such situations.

Education of national as well as international students here had taken a toll by the strike on August 23 following a protest of the teachers in the campus.

They had presented a three-point memorandum demanding to be provided with the permanent status, a raise in salary and provisions of the paid leave.
