Manisha's beau faces lie-detection test; result by Wednesday

NAWALPARASI: Police in Nawalparasi district on Tuesday conducted the polygraph test, or lie-detection test, on Rudra Narayan Chaudhari, who is believed to be involved in the murder of Manisha Gharti Magar (17), the only sister of national footballer Bimal Gharti Magar.

An expert team deployed from the Pokhara-based West Regional Police Office conducted the test on him for five hours at a Sunawal-based resort, the Nawalparasi District Police Office said.

Police Inspector Ram Prasad Pandey, who had led the test as a polygraph expert, said he was taken to the resort as such tests require a tranquil environment.

The test was concluded at 1 pm and the recordings have been sent to the Kathmandu-based Nepal Police headquarters, according to Pandey.

He hoped that the headquarters would investigate into the recordings and unveil the result by Wednesday.

Gharti Magar was found dead in a suspicious condition on Thursday last week. Police had immediately nabbed Chaudhari suspecting that she was murdered by him.

Meanwhile, the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Kathmandu submitted the postmortem report of Manisha to police.

The report, however, was not made public yet.

Police Inspector Prakash Sapkota said police would make its findings public after completing investigations.
