Many not in list of quake victims

DAMAULI, August 1

Authorities in Gorkha have been overwhelmed by complaints from people seeking to list themselves as earthquake victims, stating that they were missed out from the list earlier in the district.

As per data with the district administration, it has so far received 9,000 complaints of people who have stated that their names were not in the list of quake victims despite the fact that their houses were destroyed in the natural disaster.

The complaints have also rued the inclusion of names of people whose houses are intact.

Responding to complaints, Assistant Chief District Officer Dipendra Poudel informed about the ongoing proceedings over the complaints and pledged to settle the issue in a couple of weeks.

“Now that the investigation has begun, it won’t take long before we will settle the issue,” he vowed.

As per the previous details, the district had 57,000 houses which were completely destroyed in the quake, while many other houses were partially damaged.
