DHANGADHI: Cadres of the UCPN-Maoists called Kailali bandh today protesting the interference of the police in their peaceful demonstration in Tikapur yesterday.
Short and long route vehicles remained off the roads. Market places, educational institutions and industries remained shut. The Maoists forced even the government offices to close. The bandh enforcers vandalised the District Forest Office, Kailali, for defying the bandh. According to Bajirjung Dhami, DSP, four Maoist cadres were involved in vandalism at the DFO.
Maoists had clashed with the police at the venue of inaugural programme of Municipality Council yesterday. Twenty-four people, including four police personnel, were injured in the incident. The Maoists had vandalised the vehicle of Chandrasingh Bhattarai, State Minister for Energy, in the incident.
