Maoist leader warns against holding yagya
Nawalparasi, November 9:
A Maoist area in-charge has warned management committee of the Bardaghat-based Dibyajyoti Multiple Campus not to organise Dhandhanyanchal Mahayagya. The committee had decided to begin the week-long ritual on November 13 to raise funds for running 10+2 classes.
The warning was issued by Suman, in-charge of Nawalparasi area number 7 of the CPN (Maoist). According to the decision of the committee, son of late Pundit Narayan Prasad Pokhrel, Din Bandhu Pokhrel, was to conduct the ritual. According to Punya Poudel, a member of the campus management committee, Suman had sought clarification as to why the programme was scheduled without informing them first. The Maoists have accused the committee of giving unnecessary trouble to the peasants in the name of organising
‘Dhandhanyanchal Mahayagya’. Such programmes should not be organised, they said.
The campus aims to collect Rs 5 million from the seven-day event. Meanwhile, the campus administration said the program-me will go ahead despite the Maoists’ objection.
