Maoist MPs want decision on transfer of officials stayed
Kathmandu, March 16 :
Stating that the government made decisions to form a constituencies delimitation commission and promote and transfer security officials without their consent, Maoist members of parliament (MPs) today demanded nullification of the decisions.
The council of ministers had yesterday decided to form the constituencies delimitation commission and promote and transfer some security officials. Maoist MP Matrika Prasad Yadav said, “The caretaker government cannot constitute the commission and promote and transfer officials.”
He added that the government should not have taken such important decisions at a time when political parties have been discussing the formation of an interim government. “An interim government should be formed to decide such issues and fix the date for elections to the constituent assembly,” he said.
Speaking during today’s zero hour and special hour, MPs Suresh Ale Magar, Santosh Budhamagar, Sabitri Gurung, Saraswoti Mohora opposed the yesterday’s cabinet decisions. They demanded that the decision be nullified. Nepali Congress MP Sujata Koirala urged the government to maintain law and order.
CPN-UML MP Asta Laxmi Shakya flayed the Nepali Congress for seeking most powerful portfolios in the cabinet.
