Maoists abduct over 50 civilians
Ramechhap, January 21:
Maoists abducted more than 50 civilians from Pakarbas VDC of Ramechhap yesterday afternoon.
According to locals, a group of armed Maoists abducted more than 50 people from ward numbers- six and seven of the VDC and took them towards an undisclosed location.
Those abducted include eight teachers of the Prayageshwor Higher Secondary School.
Some days ago, the Maoists had issued a notice that one person from a family in the village should go with them or they would take action.
Some villagers had already left the villages after the Maoist threat, said a local, who fled his village to Manthali, the district headquarters of Ramechhap.
The official information regarding the abduction is yet to be received, said DSP Nabaraj Bhatta.
