Maoists against polls, says Shekhar Koirala

Biratnagar, August 23:

Central member of the Nepali Congress Dr Shekhar Koirala has said that the Maoists do not have the moral ground to defer the CA poll. He told media persons here today,”Looking at the remarks of Prachanda and Baburam, it seems that they are not serious about the CA poll .” He said that the Maoists statements were aimed at avoiding the poll.

Saying that the Maoists during the drafting of the interim constitution had agreed that the first meeting of the constituent assembly would to decide on the monarchy, Dr Koirala asked why the Maoists are not keeping their word at the time when CA poll is drawing near.

Replying to a query on why the Nepali Congress has not yet come up with its agenda, Dr Koirala said, “Time is not good for holding a general convention. Nepali Congress, therefore, should chart out agenda and prepare for the CA poll.”
