MUGU: The cadres of the Unified CPN-Maoists on Friday assaulted Nepali Congress (NC) workers at a mass meeting organised by the party.

Flexing their muscles, a group of Maoist cadres led by their district leader Kali Bahadur Rokaya, beat up at least a dozen NC workers who assembled at a training-cum-mass meet at Sorukot of Jeem VDC in Mugu district, NC sources said on Saturday. A dozen NC cadres including district committee joint president Ain Bahadur Shahi, secretary Lok Bahadur Shahi and members Devilal Malla, Lal Prasad Chaulagain and Top Bahadur Shahi were injured in the attack. Tilak Karki and Lokendra Karki of Tarun Dal, Kuberjung Shahi of Nepal Students' Union and women's association's member Kamala Shahi also sustained injuries in the attack. The injured are undergoing a treatment in local health post, NC sources, said.
