Maoists greet Minister with black flags

DANG: Cadres of Unified CPN-Maoist showed black flags to Minister for Information and Communications Shankar Pokharel in Dang today. Pokharel had come to attend various programmes in his home district.

The Maoist cadres showed black flags to the minister while he was heading to attend a press meet organised by the Federation of Nepalis Journalists Dang chapter.

Protesting against the minister, the Maoist cadres also organised a corner meet at Tulsipur Chowk.

They also blamed Youth Force of threatening their cadres with khukuris.

Protesting this, the cadres also resorted to vandalism in Tulsipur chowk. Police, later, took hold of a person in that connection.

Talking to journalists at the programme, Minister Pokharel informed that the budget would be passed via alternative means if the Maoists continued obstructing the house business. "We will wait till the eleventh hours. But the budget will be passed through alternative means if agreement is not forged," the minister said, adding, "

If the budget is not passed through majority in the parliament, we will pass it through ordinance by postponing the parliament," he said.

"The insistence of UCPN-M over the former army chief was against the comprehensive peace accord, interim constitution and established legal provision, he added.

He also urged the Maoists to come to agreement to fulfill their demands.

Meanwhile, FNJ Dang chapter has condemned the Maoists' act of showing black flags in their programme. The chapter has also blamed the Maoist of trying to fail a programme organised by the media organisation
