Maoists paralysing the nation, says minister
Kavre, November 14:
Minister for Agriculture and Cooperatives Chhabi Lal Bishwokarma has alleged that the Maoists are paralysing the nation against the aspirations of Jana Andolan II. Inaugurating a peasants’ labour camp organised by CPN (UML) affiliated All Nepal Peasants Federation Kavre at Mahadevsthan VDC today, he alleged that the Maoists have rendered the nation without any direction by placing different conditions.
“No responsible party should place conditions,” he said. “The time is ripe to devise an agenda for the interest of the people.” He, however, confessed that the government has not done much to attract the people to modern farming and that no special package was introduced for the interest of the peasants during the transition period.
The federation, which has been organising labour camps every year, assigned 300 cadres to harvest paddy on 30 ropanis of land belonging to peasants of Mahadevsthan Narayan Poudyal, Krishna Kumar Shrestha and Bhim Lal Shrestha.
The programme was organised to inculcate the habit in the peasants to work on the field, said the federation’s district president Tok Bahadur Tamang. The money collected as labour fee at the camp would be deposited at a fund, said the federation.
