Maoists to fight from cities

KATHMANDU: Unified CPN-Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' today directed party leaders and cadres to be ready for a fight from the cities.

Addressing a training programme for some 2,500 members of different committees within the Newa State Committee on the premises of Nepal Academy of Science and Technology, Prachanda directed party cadres to be prepared for a "counter attack" if the political parties try to sabotage the peace process.

According to one participant, Prachanda claimed that the party will never return to the jungles, but fight from the cities. Prachanda, however, urged all the participants to be involved in the struggle to create an environment conducive to drafting a new statute.
