Maoists urged to stop donation drive

Kaski, March 24:

Speaking at a meeting of party workers in Hemja of Kaski today, central member of the Nepali Congress, Sujata Koirala, urged the Maoists to put an end to their nationwide ‘donation collection campaign’.

Region-3 committee of the Nepali Congress had organised the meeting. The campaign is in violation of the 12-point parties-Maoist pact, said Koirala, adding: “The Maoists should stop collecting donations if they want to respect the pact.”

“The agitation beginning from April 8 will sweep the autocracy away,” Koirala said, urging all to take part in it. As the government was not serious in restoring peace, the parties took the initiative for the restoration of peaceby holding talks with the Maoists,” said NC member Arjun Prasad Joshi.

Said Sushil Man Sherchan, central representative of the Nepali Congress: “The stir would be successful if a large number of people took part in it.”
