Mayor acquitted of murder receives warm welcome

Rautahat, December 29

Rautahat’s Katahariya Municipality Mayor Siyaram Kushwaha today returned to his municipality after the Apex Court acquitted him of the murder of then World Hindu Yuba Sangh Rautahat chairman Kashi Tiwari.

A joint bench of Supreme Court justices Sharada Ghimire and Dambar Shahi overruled verdict issued by a temporary bench of Birgunj under Janakpur High Court  and gave clean chit to Kushwaha yesterday. After his acquittal, Kuswaha arrived in Katahariya in a chartered chopper.

Locals had extended a warm welcome to Kushwaha. After temporary bench of Birgunj under Janakpur High Court slapped him life imprisonment, a team deployed from Central Bureau of Investigation had taken him under control and put him in Dillibazaar-based Sadar Prison on May 9, 2018.

Kushwaha said his acquittal was the victory of truth and defeat of falsehood.

He pledged to carry out the developmental works related to road, education, health, drinking water, and others.

Nepal Communist Party (NCP) House of Representative member and Province 2 Chair PrabhuSah thanked Kushwaha for his acquittal and his return to the municipality. He wished him success for his remaining tenure.
