Mayor Hak pledges to develop Khadak Municipality

Newly elected mayor of Khadak Municipality Hemayu Hak has expressed commitment to develop the local unit into a model municipality of Saptari.

Addressing the oath-taking ceremony organised at the district election office today, the mayor said he would keep the promises made in his election manifesto in coordination with all stakeholders in the municipality.

Hak, who garnered 3,128 votes, is the youngest of all newly elected mayors in the district that has a total of 18 local levels.

The newly-elected mayor said he would take initiatives to manage irrigation and address the drinking water problem at the local level. “The drinking water project in the municipality will be managed soon,” said Hak, who is also the son of former lawmaker Sadrul Miya Hak.

His father, who had been elected as an independent candidate in the first Constituent Assembly elections, was killed in an incident in which his family members were involved, four years ago.

Also present in the function were the newly elected deputy mayor, ward chairmen and members of the municipality.

Similarly, newly elected Mayor Aatesh Kumar Singh Yadav, Deputy Mayor Ranju Sah, ward chairpersons and ward members of Barsain Municipality also took oath of office today.
