Media centre at vote counting venue

In order to update mediapersons with information related to vote counting, District Election Office, Lamjung, has set up a media centre at the vote counting venue in the district.

Chief Returning Officer and District Judge Komal Prasad Acharya said the meeting hall of the District Coordination Committee was turned into a media centre in coordination with the Federation of Nepali Journalists Lamjung chapter.

As many as 15 journalists can report from the centre at a time. Journalists will be provided with passes for turn-wise entry. However, they will not be allowed to use their mobile phones at the media centre. Journalists can live telecast the update and can collect news using their own laptops, and computers.

Assistant Election Officer and Local Development Officer Dilli Ram Sigdel said the centre was set up for the convenience of mediapersons.

A total of 165 polling stations containing 495 ballot boxes have been kept under CCTV surveillance in the district, which has one parliamentary and two provincial seats.
