Members of human trafficking racket held

KATHMANDU: Police said they recently arrested three members of a human trafficking racket involved in trafficking of Nepali women to Oman with promises of lucrative jobs.

Raj Kumar Kharel (35) from Dumkibas-3 of Nawalparasi, Puran Subba (46) from Indrapur-4 of Morang and Hari Prasad Tharu (41) from Devdaha-2 of Rupandehi were arrested by a team deployed from the Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police.

According to police, they would take job-aspiring Nepali women to Oman via India, Sri Lanka, Kuwait and theĀ United Arab Emirates illegally.

Meanwhile, police said the suspects would face a case in accordance with the Human Trafficking and Transportation Control Act, 2007.

Further investigation is underway.
