Menon arriving here today

New Delhi, November 28:

Indian Foreign Secretary Shiv Shanker Menon is leaving for Kathmandu tomorrow on a three-day official visit to Nepal.

He will be accompanied by joint-secretary in-charge of the Nepal-Bhutan desk at the External Affairs Ministry, Pankaj Sharan, and Indian envoy to Nepal, Shiv Shanker Mukherjee, who is here now. Menon is visiting Nepal at the invitation of acting secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal, Bhagirath Basnet. “This is a regular visit at the government level,” charge d’ affaires at the Nepalese Embassy here, Tara Pokhrel, told this daily.

During his stay in Kathmandu, Menon will meet PM Girija Prasad Koirala, Deputy PMs, KP Sharma Oli and Amik Sherchan, Home Minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula and Finance Minister Dr Ram Sharan Mahat.

He will also call on former PMs Sher Bahadur Deuba, Surya Bahadur Thapa, and UML general secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal, sources said.
