Lamjung, August 12

Construction of the three MW Midimkhola Hydropower Project along the Midim corridor is on the verge of completion in Lamjung.

Promoter Union Hydro Power Company had begun construction of the project some 16 months ago on the border between Karapu and Nalma VDCs in western Lamjung. The company said 70 per cent work on the project has been completed despite last year’s earthquake and border blockade, said Rajendra Adhikari, public relations officer of the project.

“Earlier, the company was planning to complete construction of the project by mid-April this year. But last year’s earthquakes and border blockades delayed the project by seven months,” said Adhikari.

He said construction of tunnel, power house and dam was being expedited. As much as 906.24 m of the 1121.24 m tunnel has already been dug. More than 60 per cent of work on construction of the dam has also been completed.
