Minister flays anti-China activities

Kathmandu, March 27:

Minister for Youth and Sports Gopal Shakya said today that some imperialist and expansionist elements were trying to disintegrate China by operating anti-China activities in Nepal.

“The imperialists agents are supporting pro-Tibetan movements in Nepal to

disintegrate China,” Shakya said, addressing a programme organised here by the

Nepal-China Friendship Youth Association.

The programme was organised to mark 50th anniversary of democratic reforms in Tibet.

Shakya also said Nepal had always been adopting One China policy. “We are in favour of exchanging youths in wider scale to share knowledge and cooperation,” he added.

Applauding Nepal’s One China policy, Chinese envoy to Nepal Qui Guohong said Nepal had supported China in Tibet issues. Qui, however, asked all concerned to maintain high degree of alert to thwart attempts to misuse Nepali territory to carry out anti-China activities.

“The anti-China elements are trying to internationalise the Tibet issue by supporting Dalai Lama, who has been trying to separate Tibet and defame China,” Qui said, adding, “We will not let them separate Tibet from China.”

The envoy also said that China was committed to democracy, freedom and human rights.
