Minister, Indian envoy inspect pipeline

Bara, July 23

Minister of Industry, Commerce and Supply Matrika Yadav and Indian Ambassador to Nepal Manjeev Singh Puri inspected the Motihari-Raxaul-Amlekhgunj petroleum pipeline today.

The monitoring comes after the recent successful test of fuel supply via the pipeline. As part of the test on Friday, fuel sent from India had arrived in Amlekhgunj of Bara.

Of the total 259.7km length of the pipeline from Patna of India to Amlekhgunj through Motihari, 69.7km stretch from Motihari to Amlekhgunj was tested successfully on Friday.

During the visit of the minister and envoy, they were briefed about the pipeline project. Following the contract-signing in 2004, construction of the pipeline had started in 2018, with 2020 March as the stipulated project completion deadline.

“Completed eight months prior to the stipulated deadline, the project has helped the government aim to make the country prosperous and happy,” said  Yadav, on the occasion, adding that the project would be inaugurated jointly by the prime ministers of both Nepal and India soon.
