Minister Khanal vows to dismantle syndicate in agriculture sector

KATHMANDU: Minister for Agriculture, Land Management and Cooperatives Chakrapani Khanal has pledged to dismantle rampant syndicate in agriculture sector in the country.

Speaking at an interaction programmee in Kathmandu on Tuesday, Minister Khanal said, "I will initiate programmes and take necessary measures to benefit farmers. Syndicate in agriculture sector will be broken."

CPN Maoist Centre leader and Minister Chakrapani Khanal shared that he would put to an end to the monopoly surfaced in vegetable market by even amending market operation regulation of the Kalimati Vegetable and Fruits Development Committee.

Referring to a widening trade deficit with India, Minister Khanal pointed out for a new revolution in agriculture sector.

"Agriculture will be given a top priority in this year's budget. It is the back-bone of Nepal's economy. We have to adopt 21st century agricultural model," Minister Khanal said.
