During today’s cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Koirala directed the concerned ministers to immediately probe the case and take stern action against those responsible, said government spokesperson Minendra Rijal.
There were media reports that the relief materials distributed by the World Food Programme in different parts of Gorkha were rotten. Minister for Information and Communications Rijal said today’s cabinet expressed serious concern about the incident.
Rijal further said today’s meeting also decided to provide relief materials and other facilities, including compensations for building private houses to the victims of landslides that occurred prior to the April 25 earthquake on a par with earthquake victims.
Rijal said media reports regarding the extension of disaster zone for one more year in Kathmandu Valley had created confusion among the international community and tourists that there was still state of emergency in Kathmandu. “I would like to request the media to clarify that normalcy has already returned to Nepal,” he said, adding that the disaster zone was extended just to demolish risky buildings. The cabinet decided to appoint Ram Jivan Yadav as executive director of Nepal Open University’s Infrastructure Development Committee. It also promoted Mahendra Bhattarai and Abhimanyu Khatri as Investigation Directors of National Investigation Department, under the Home Ministry.
Rijal further said the meeting decided to extend the term of executive director of Nepal Administrative Staff College Punya Prasad Neupane and appointed justice of the Appellate Court Lekhnath Poudel as member of Foreign Employment Authority under the Ministry of Law, Justice, Constituent Assembly and Parliamentary Affairs.
