Ministry distributes hospital equipment
KATHMANDU: Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) on Thrusday handed over various hospital equipments to different district and zonal hospitals as per the prime objective of the ministry to provide quality health services to the people.
ECG machines, operation theatre table, operation theatre light, ultra sound machine, cautery machine, oxygen concentrator and colour doppler were distributed to 35 hospitals amidst a programme here today.
Speaking at the programme, Giri Raj Mani Pokhrel, minister for health and population expressed concern over the implementation of the policies formulated for providing free primary health care services.
He said that it was the responsibility of the state to provide free primary health care services which was declared in the interim constitution. He viewed that there still lacked adequate human resources, basic equipments, medicines and infrastructures for providing quality health services to people.
He also claimed that the state was ready to carry all the financial burden for providing free primary health services and urged all communities to be equally responsible in helping out the state in providing such services. He argued that it would be very difficult to imagine any programmes without community participation.
He also assured of the government of providing X-ray machines to every district hospitals by the end of this fiscal.
He also said that the donor agencies were interested to uplift and fund the health sector of Nepal. He informed that during his recent visit to China he had asked for seven billion with Chinese government for developing basic infrastructure in district hospitals. He said that the international donors were positive towards the national health policy of the nation.
He also argued that hospitals should have their own health policies for providing free health services to the old and the needy. Dr Mingmar G Sherpa, director of Supply System Division at Department of Health Services said that the handover of the equipments is for providing qualitative services as per the prime objective of the ministry.
