MoHP has hard time managing two secretaries
The government had transferred Pushpa Chaudhary on October 24
Kathmandu, December 24
Secretary at the Ministry of Health and Population Pushpa Chaudhary rejoined office after the Supreme Court issued a stay order against her transfer from the ministry. However, this has invited trouble for the ministry as a new secretary had already been appointed at the ministry.
At present, there are two secretaries at the Ministry of Health and Population, Pushpa Chaudhary and Kedar Bahadur Adhikari, who was recently appointed through a Cabinet decision.
The ministry is facing difficulty managing two secretaries. Both secretaries have demanded separate office rooms and it has also become difficult for the ministry to divide the workload.
According to MoHP Spokesperson Mahendra Shrestha, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health and Population Upendra Yadav arranged office rooms for both secretaries today. Pushpa Chaudhary has been placed in her previous office while Adhikari has been placed in the room of Krishna Kumar Rai, adviser to Minister Yadav.
Meanwhile, the adviser to the minister has occupied the room of chief officer of Population Management and Information Division.
“Workload of the secretaries hasn’t been divided yet. Either the Cabinet or Minister Yadav will divide work between the secretaries,” said Shrestha, adding that at present Adhikari had been taking all the responsibilities.
Earlier, on October 24, Chaudhary had been transferred to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers. But, Chaudhary filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court against the government’s decision .
