DHADING: A youth died after a truck hit the motorcycle he was riding on pillion, in Bhumesthan-6 of the district along the Prithvi Highway on Thursday.

The minitruck (Ba 19 Pa 8375) heading toward Nuwakot district headquarters Bidur from Kathmandu had hit the bike (Ba 19 Pa 8375) heading to the Capital, in Simle of Bhumesthan, at around 2 pm today.

The pillion rider Rabindra Bhujel (21) from Mankhu, Goganpani-5 of the district, died on the spot when a rear wheel of the truck crushed him after knocking him down.

Police Inspector Hemanta Bhandari of Gajuri Area Police Post said the yet-to-be-identified bike rider was rescued while he was unconscious and rushed to Kathmandu.

The truck fled from the scene, but a team deployed from the Galchhi Police Post confiscated it later, police added.

Meanwhile, vehicular movement along the Highway was obstructed following the accident for around an hour.

The truck and its driver are in custody of the Gajuri Police Post while the body has been kept at Gajuri Primary Health Centre.
