Mishandling of fire relief fund alleged

Displaced by fire since last December, and now deprived of aid that was rightfully supposed to reach them, more than 126 families are languishing because of the nepotism by those in charge of distributing the relief.
Chetan Prasad Subedi, has filed a complaint at the Eastern Regional Administration Office, Dhankuta, alleging mishandling of funds meant for fire-affected victims of Myaglung, Tehrathum. A conflagaration last December displaced 211 families of Myaglung.
A committee headed by CDO, Hari Lochan Sharma, Terhathum, was formed after the incident to provide relief package to those affected. The chairman of Myaglung-Tamphula City Development Committee, Govinda Dhungana was named as secretary of the committee.
According to Subedi, the committee has mishandled Rs. 3.2 million. Subedi has also furnished details of discriminations and nepotistical distribution of funds.
