Missing boy reunites with family after 10 years

BAJURA: Dev Luhar of Swamikartik Khapar rural municipality-3 (the then Jukot Village Development Committee-6) in Bajura, who had been missing for a decade, has finally reunited with his family.

The boy had disappeared from the village some 10 years ago and was rescued by the District Child Welfare Board.

The then child rights officer Sarpalal Giri of District Child Welfare Board found him in a neglected state on August 28, 2008. He was later sent to the Central Child Welfare Board, Kathmandu.

He grew up under the protection of the Board. Luhar who was aware that he was originally from Bajura, the district in Far Western province, decided to visit the district to obtain his citizenship certificate as he knew that District Administration Office, Bajura was organizing a mobile camp at Kolti.

In course of his visit, he happened to meet his family and that moment was quite emotional. He was handed to the family as witness with Swamikartik-3 ward chair Birjit Kattel, Budhinanda municipality-4 chair Rajan Rokaya and Radio Budhinanda chair Sarpalal Giri as witnesses. Now, he owns a citizenship certificate by descent (in his father's name). Luhar said that he was very happy to meet his family.
