Missing girl, 10, found raped and murdered

JANAKPURDHAM: Two men have been charged with rape and murder of a minor girl who went missing on her way home from a fair on Friday at Dhanusa district in Province 2.

The girl’s deceased body was found a kilometer away from her home in Aaurahi rural municipality in the district today, officials informed.

According to the police, the 10-year-old went to attend a fair at a nearby temple at 9:00pm on Friday and had not returned home till morning.

Following her disappearance, the officers carried out an extensive search during which she was found raped and murdered at a paddy field.

Police have arrested Binod Mukhiya (32) of the same municipality and Nathuni Pandit (30) of Parwaha after preliminary investigation.

According to Superintendent of Police Govinda Thapaliya, the suspects were inebriated at the time of incident and they lured the minor girl in pretext of giving her a chocolate and raped and murdered her.

Meanwhile, the victim’s body has been taken to zonal hospital in Janakpur for autopsy.
