KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 8

In a collaborative effort, a dedicated team from the MIT Foundation and the Global NRNA Foundation, led by Coordinator Dr. Shesh Ghale and 7 Summit Foundation Chairman AC Sherpa, who also serves as the advisor for NRNA & Consular General for Seattle, and Shyam Tamang, Advisor for NRNA & MIT, along with Suresh Chitrakar from the MIT Foundation and YB Ambassador Dipesh Khatri from NRNA, visited Aathbiskot Municipality in Rukum and Raut Gaon and Khalanga in Jajarkot on Tuesday. This visit is part of their ongoing efforts to address the aftermath of the Rukum & Jajarkot 2023 earthquakes.

During the visit, the team had the privilege of meeting with resilient local residents at Ground Zero and distributed much-needed relief materials in the remote areas of the quakezone at Ward-13, Aathbiskot, according to Shyam Tamang, Advisor for NRNA & MIT. In a poignant moment, Dr. Shesh Ghale paid tribute to the deceased at Rautgaon, he added.

"The team conducted surveys at Ground Zero to gain a deeper understanding of the immediate requirements for short-term relief materials and the long-term rehabilitation and reconstruction process." We believe this will help us provide the necessary support to the affected communities," Tamang added.

Throughout their visit, the team engaged with various stakeholders, including earthquake victims, local residents, the Chief District Officer (CDO), the Mayor, the Deputy Mayor, the Ward President, as well as former and present Cabinet Ministers.

We value their insights and collaboration to ensure an effective response to the earthquake situation. Building upon our previous experience from the Earthquake in 2015, where we successfully carried out 47 days of relief work and four years of reconstruction in LAPRAK, NRNA Model Village, constructing 602 houses, we are determined to make a significant impact in Rukum and JAJARKOT, Tamang stated.

"We remain committed to our mission and will continue working tirelessly to provide assistance and support to the affected areas."
