Mithila identity during state restructuring demanded

JANAKPURDHAM: Speakers at a programme here today urged the political parties not to neglect the civilisation, identification, culture and language of the Mithila while proposing their concepts on state restructuring.

At an interaction organised by Madheshi Rastriya Mukti Morcha Nepal (Revolutionary) in Janakpur of Dhanusha, Dr Rajendra Bimal stressed on the need of adopting scientific method to prepare maps of the states.

Dr Pashupatinath Jha, chief, Maithili Department of the Tribhuvan University, said it was a matter of concern as there was confusion in concept papers on state restructuring regarding the Mithila state despite the clarity on its area and language.

The speakers also accused some parties of playing with the Mithila's identification.

CPN-UML leader Sital Jha blamed the Maoists for trying to push the nation into an ethnic clash by raising unnecessary issues pertaining to ethnicity.

Pawan Jha of Madheshi Janaadhikar Forum (Democratic), Dev Narayan Yadav of Madheshi Janaadhikar Forum Nepal, among other leaders, also aired their views in favour of the Mithila state.
