MJF not to join govt ‘till pacts are implemented’
Biratnagar, April 18:
Coordinator of Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum (MJF) Upendra Yadav today said that his party will not join an all-party government until the eight-point and the 22-point agreements reached with the government are implemented.
Speaking at a programme organised by the Morang chapter of Federation of Nepalese Journalists, he said: “The issue of implementation of the Madhes agenda is more important than joining the government.”
He said the government should be serious to address Madhesis’ demands of autonomy and ensuring the rights of Madhesi people.
Saying that MJF will play positive role in the formation of new Nepal, he said that MJF will forward its political agenda in the changed political scenario in the country.
MJF will not join the government until the Madhes demands were met, he said.
“The new constitution should be inclusive so that a Madhesi can also be the president of the nation and members of village development committee,” he said, adding that MJF is of the view that the president should be elected through the direct votes of people.
“As Nepali Congress has been defeated in the polls, Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala should resign on moral grounds,” he said. “PM Koirala has mocked political culture by not resigning,” he said, adding: “The party with the majority should lead the government.”
Bijay Gachchhedar, Ramanandan Mandal and Dimlal Rajbanshi, the CA members from the MJF and Maoists’ CA members Lal Bahadur Magar, Sabitri Kumar Kafle, Gopi Sarki and Nagendra Dhimal also spoke on the occasion.
Speaking at the function Nepal Press Union central vice chairman Shekhar Regmi, central member of Revolutionary Journalists Association Shiva Dangi and chairman of Morang chapter of Press Chautari Nepal Mahendra Bista said the CA members should take concrete initiatives for the implementation of Working Journalists’ Act.
