MJF positive on talks with govt: Minister

Kathmandu, April 21:

Minister of State for General Administration, Ram Chandra Yadav, today said that the Madheshi Janadhikar Forum (MJF) was positive on talks.

“We are corresponding with the MJF leadership and they are also responding our letters. They are positive on talks. We are hopeful that we will be holding talks with them soon,” he said, while addressing a talk programme on Madhesi problems here.

He, however, said that other agitating groups are not in contact and are not responding to the government’s appeal for talks.

“We are using other channels to contact other armed forces who have been carrying out unrest in the Tarai to hold talks. Everybody should now understand that peaceful dialogue is the only way out for all political problems,” he said.

MP Banshidhar Mishra accused the government of not showing due response to the demands of the Madhesis.

General-secretary of the Federation of Nepalese Journalists, Mahendra Bista, said the media could not cover the issues of the Tarai region because the agitating Tarai outfits denied mediapersons’ access to information.
