MJF sets conditions for talks
Kathmandu, February 21:
The Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF) today ruled out dialogue with the government unless the latter took “moral accountability and responsibility” for the loss of lives during the Tarai movement.
Coordinator of the forum’s talks team, Sita Nanda Ray, demanded Home Minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula’s resignation and formation of a high-level investigation committee. “These are our basis conditions for sitting for talks,” he said. “The government is turning a deaf ear to our pre-condition for talks,” said Ray at an interaction at the Club today. He accused the government of not being serious in addressing the issues raised by the people.
Nepali Congress (NC) central leader Arjun Narsingh KC suggested that the forum sit for talks unconditionally. He appealed to the forum to sort out differences through dialogue.
KC also suggested the government to address the grievances of the people in a “package” rather than finding out solutions in “pieces and parts”.
