Report on killing of 13 Nepalis in Kabul attack submitted to PM Dahal

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Labour and Employment on Tuesday submitted a report on the death of 13 Nepalis in the June 23 terrorist attack in Afghanistan to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, who currently holds Labour and Employment portfolio with himself.

In the report, MoLE suggested that Nepali citizens can be sent abroad to work as security guards if their security and accommodation were guaranteed, the Prime Minister's Secretariat said in a statement.

MoLE Secretary Bishnu Lamsal handed over the report, which the Government of Nepal's probe committee prepared on the Kabul incident, to Prime Minister Dahal at his official residence in Baluwatar.

Receiving the report, Dahal maintained that the government is of the opinion that Nepalis working abroad should be assured of their security.  He said the Cabinet would hold discussion on the report.

Ministry of Supplies Deepak Bohara, who headed MoLE in the erstwhile government when the incident took place in June, was also present on the occasion.

The KP Sharma Oli-led Cabinet had directed MoLE to carry out a detailed study of all aspects of the Kabul incident and submit a report.

The Oli-government had barred Nepalis from going to the war-hit nation among others for employment after 13 Nepalis were killed in a suicide attack in Kabul of Afghanistan on June 20.
