DAMAULI: A person allegedly murdered his wife by hitting her with a hammer in Shuklagandaki Municipality-7 on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Buddhi Maya Rai (25) and the suspect as her husband Kumar Rai (29) of Madhumalla in Miklajung Rural Municipality-8 in Morang, currently residing in Malebagar of Shuklagandaki Municipality-7.

In a fit of rage over a dispute, Rai attacked his spouse with a hammer, killing her on the spot yesterday, according to the police.

The Area Police Office, Belchautara took the accused under control shortly after the incident occurred.

Further investigation into the incident is underway, said police.

Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been kept at the Damauli Hospital for the postmortem, police informed.
