Morang NC starts drive against polls

Biratnagar, January 5:

A team led by the Nepali Congress Morang unit chairman Amrit Aryal has started the second phase of the party’s campaign against the upcoming municipal polls by launching a door-to-door campaign in the 22 wards of the Biratnagar sub-metropolis city.

Earlier, the unit comprising NC central members Mahesh Acharya, Amod Upadhyay, Nona Koirala, Shekhar Koirala and former Nepali COngress Morang chairman Ashok Koirala had started the campaign in Biratnagar from December 22.

In the first phase of poll boycott programme, members of Booth Committee and members of sister organisations were given training for the purpose.

Other agitating political parties have separately launched their door-to-door campaigns against the municipal polls.

Meanwhile, central member of the party Dr Shekhar Koirala claimed that voters’ turnout in municipal polls in Biratnagar will be less than 10 per cent unless the polls are held in security barracks.
