JHAPA: Land registation in the name of women has increased at Bhadrapur Land Revenue Office in Jhapa district of late.

As per office statistics, as many as 15,123 women had registered land in their names in the last fiscal, which is 5,229 more compared to men.

Land revenue officer Dipendra Khatri said that the number had increased after women were given 25 per cent discount in revenue and more men were engaged in foreign employment. Revenue worth 6.1 million rupees was collected from the registration charge. Bhadrapur Land Revenue Office collected Rs 1.4 million more revenue compared to the last fiscal.

Officer Khatri said that the revenue increased after the government implemented online system in the office in a bid to control irregularities.
