More than 95,000 benefitted from eye treatment services in Chitwan

CHITWAN: More than 95,715 people in Bharatpur of Chitwan were benefitted from the eye treatment services conducted by the Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh in the fiscal year 2014/15.

Comparatively the number has been increased by 12,663 this year than the previous year.

The sangh has been providing facilities from Bharatpur Eye Hospital and establishing eye treatment camps in various areas of the district.

According to Tulasi Prasad Parajuli, Administrator at the hospital, 10,027 people were served through the camps.

Parajuli informed that the hospital had successfully conducted major eye surgeries of 4,966 people last year.

He informed that 3,957 people had undergone eye surgeries in the camps this year.

Parajuli shared that a total of 6,636 people underwent eye surgeries in the camps so far.

As many as 4,966 people had undergone eye surgeries in the camps in the last fiscal year.

Chijkumar Maskey, Chairman of the Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh of Chitwan informed that awareness programmes, quality services, advertisement, OPD services from 9 am to 4 pm and specialised doctors have increased the flow of people.

Services at the Bharatpur Eye Hospital are already on while eye treatment camps have been providing facilities to the people of Kawasoti of Nawalparasi, Parsa of Chitwan and Basantapur of Madi.

The Association is planning to expand its services in Chanauli, Tadi and Sauraha of Chitwan from this year too.

People of Chitwan, Nawalparasi, Dhading, Parsa,Gorkha, Tanahun, Lamjung, Makwanpur and Bara are facilitated with the services.

Among the patients who come to the hospital for treatment, 53 percent are women and 2 percent are Indian people.
