Mother, daughter swept by flooded Baitadi rivulet found dead

DADELDHURA: Bodies of a woman and her daughter who were swept away by a flooded rivulet were recovered, in Baitadi district on Wednesday evening.

The deceased have been identified as Sunita Mahar (24) and daughter Asmita Mahar (6), the resident of Dasharath Chand Municipality-6 in the district, according to DSP Heramba Sharma of the Baitadi District Police Office.

According to the DSP Sharma, the mother and her daughter, who were taking bath in the Kurauda Khola, were swept away when it flooded suddenly at around 4:30 pm yesterday. The downpour had started while they were in the water.

Police said that the bodies of the duo were recovered 60 metres away from the spot they were taking bath at around 6:00 pm.

Meanwhile, the bodies of the deceased have been kept at the District Hospital for postmortem, said police.
