DAMAULI: A man died after a motorcycle hit him in Byas Municipality-1 of Tanahun district on Wednesday afternoon.

Tanahun District Police Office (DPO) identified the deceased as Mohammad Aashiq (75) of Byas-11.

According to police, a 'Royal Enfield' motorcycle (Ba 89 Pa 2967) en route to Pokhara from Kathmandu hit Aashiq injuring him, near Sugam Petrol Pump along Damauli-Dumre road section yesterday. Soon after Aashiq jumped down from a ridge beside the road the motorcycle welted him, police said.

Following the incident, the critically injured was rushed to local Ratnahari Hospital. The hospital further referred Aashiq to Gandaki Hospital where the doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival, police informed.

The motorcycle hit the septuagenarian as the motorcyclist made a sudden swerve to save a pedestrian, said police.

Meanwhile, the DPO has impounded the motorcycle and detained its rider for investigation, informed police.
