Motorcyclist dies after crashing into customs office barrier in Kanchanpur

KANCHANPUR: A person died after the motorcycle he was riding on crashed into a barrier post of Kanchanpur Customs Office in Bhimdatta Municipality-10 of Kanchanpur district on Wednesday night.

The deceased has been identified as motorcyclist Dhiraj Aarya (27), a permanent resident of Rudrapur, India.

The incident occurred after the on-test motorcycle heading towards India from Mahendranagar smashed into barrier of the Gaddachauki-based customs office, critically injuring Aarya, at around 12:30 am today, according to Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Karan Singh at the Gaddachauki-based Area Police Office. However, pillion rider Janak Bhatta of Chirpur-2 in Dadeldhura district was left unhurt, said police.

ASI Singh said that the accident occurred after the over speeding motorcycle ran out of control and crashed into the barrier. The impact of motorcycle bent the iron barrier, said police.

Injured Aarya was rushed to Mahakali Zonal Hospital where he breathed his last at 1:30 am during the course of treatment.

Further investigation into the case is underway, informed police.
