Motorcyclists made to wear helmets along border

Janakpurdham, November 4:

The Indian security officials deployed at the Indo-Nepal border areas for polls for the Bihar assembly, have made helmet and shoes compulsory for motorcyclists moving across the border. The BSF stationed at the Umgaon have started to take actions against the motorcyclists without helmet and shoes.

Motorcyclists need not necessarily wear helmets in Bihar. The Nepalis along the border areas, too, do not use helmets while travelling to Bihar. After the implementation of new rules, at least two dozen Nepalis who were entering into India were held by the BSF and later released for not wearing helmets and shoes, victims said.

Nepal has agreed to deploy its army on its borders with Bihar to check Nepali Maoists from entering the state during the assembly elections, said Home Secretary Hem Chand Sirohi. “The Royal Nepalese Army would be deployed on the border about 24 hours before the third phase of polls to check and control the entry of rebels into Bihar,” Sirohi said. — HNS
