Mountaineer dies

MUSTANG: An Australian national, who has gone to scale Mt Annapurna-I, died after falling off the mountain at an altitude of 6,000 metres, confirmed the Border Police Post at Bhurung, Tatopani.

Identity of the deceased has not been ascertained yet. A team of four climbers had gone to scale the mountain four days ago.

Chairman of Annapurna Area Conservation Project Management Committee, Narchyang, Tej Gurung, said other members of the team have returned without climbing the mountain after the demise of their team member.

He said, “We have informed the Border Police Post about the incident.”
