MPs ask govt why conflict victims are denied relief
Kathmandu, January 25:
Members of a parliamentary committee today asked the government to furnish an explanation on the delay in providing relief to the conflict victims.
The members of the Parliamentary Conflict Victims Rehabilitation and Relief Management Monitoring Special Committee criticised Minister for Peace and Reconstruction Ram Chandra Poudel for failing to come up with an exact data on the conflict victims and charged the ministry with losing its significance.
“Date for the Constituent Assembly election has been announced but the government is very slow in its effort to finalise the number of conflict victims,” lawmaker Binay Dhoj Chand said.
He asked Minister Poudel, “Till when will the government remain busy in documentation only?” Minister Poudel assured the members that the government would publicise the data of the conflict victims soon.
