Muglin-Kotre road section repairs intensified

Work to repair the Muglin-Kotre road section along Prithvi Highway has been intensified after a news about the road’s sorry state was published in The Himalayan Times on its September 19 edition.

Former chairperson of Tanahun Chambers of Commerce and Industry Khairenitar Bazaar Unit Samundra Ram Shrestha expressed happiness at the accelerated pace of repair work on the road section, that had been in dilapidated condition for years, just a few days after the news was published in the national daily.

“The publication of the news became a catalyst for the road’s repairs,” said chairperson of the unit Arjun Shrestha.

Chief of western Regional Division Office Number one, Tanahun, Bhanu Joshi said that the repairs started with a tender budget of Rs 400,000. He also said that 70 per cent of potholes on the road section had already been patched and the remaining would be fixed within the next two to three days.

Joshi admitted that publication of the news report in this daily had drawn his attention towards repairs. He also informed that his office was preparing to issue a tender on blacktopping the Muglin-Kotre road section in January/February next year.

Pedestrians and vehicle users alike have expressed great relief over the repairs of the 71-km road.
