Murder-accused cop suspended

BIRGUNJ: District Police Office (DPO) Parsa initiated departmental action against head constable Janga Bahadur Sah after suspending him from the post. Sah has been in focal point of investigation after some goods of slain businessman — Binod Agrawal — were recovered from his possession.

The DPO said that it started action against Sah on the charge of being involved in the murder of Agrawal, 50, a businessman of Rungata Bazaar located at Birgunj Sub-Metropolis Ward 12. Agrawal was murdered on the night of 11 October while asleep.

Accused Sah is a permanent resident of Bahuda Pataura VDC of Rautahat and was posted in Riot Police Battalion Hetauda. He was deployed in Birgunj as a member of an addition force for festival.

Chief District Officer Durga Prasad Bhandari said that murder case was filed at the court against Sah. In response, the court ordered to keep accused Sah in custody for 25 days for investigation.

''Though we found some sarees and other clothes that were stolen from Rungata Bazaar on the day of murder, Sah has not confessed his crime yet,'' said a police officer.

Traffic police constable Laxman Sah was detained some days ago with the sarees that was stolen from the market. Police had detained Sah after Laxman informed that Sah had given the sarees to him.
