Murder accused held

OKHALDHUNGA: District Court, Okhaldhunga on Tuesday remanded Tilak Rai, who was accused of murdering UML leader Chabilal Karki, to custody after Judge Uddhav Prasad Bhattarai ordered his detention for further investigation.

Police arrested Rai from his house on October 29. Inspector Baidhya Nath Yadav said Rai was taken to prison after the court’s order.

UML leader Karki had died after he was attacked with rod and sticks by then cadres of the Unified CPN-Maoist at Nishankhe-based Tara Hotel on July 8, 2010.
