Myagdi folks at high risk of flood

MYAGDI: Dhangdung village of Okharbot in Myagdi district continues to face a high risk of floods and landslides.

The settlement of six families in the area are at the risk of being swept away by landslips, while on the other hand, a flood from the nearby Dajung River is terrifying them equally.

The rocks are falling over the settlement wedged on a steep cliff, said Sadhana Ramjali. A rickety wooden bridge placed over the Dajung river is compounding the risk even more, she added.

All locals of Dhandhung including the families led by Gam Bahadur Darji, Dal Bahadur Darji and Som Bahadur Darji need immediate evacuation. However they are wary of moving out as they do not have land ownership certificates, according to sources.
